BENEFITS TO BUYING FLOORING IN BULK

If you’re a retailer or contractor, you need flooring — and lots of it. You can find bulk flooring at a discount at many liquidators, wholesalers and suppliers near you. Whether you’re re-flooring a home, have a commercial flooring installation job, or need stock to show customers, you can benefit from buying in bulk — from tile and laminate to hardwood and carpet.

GREAT DEALS CAN BE HAD

The biggest benefit to buying in bulk is to save money. If you have ever shopped at a whole club for groceries, you know how bulk buying works. You may have to pay a fee to belong to such a wholesale provider, but the benefits will far outweigh that fee if you frequently buy products from that supplier. In some cases, you can buy flooring at up to 70 percent off, which allows you to offer deep discounts to your customers in return and still make a nice profit. With a lower price per square foot, you can pass those savings along. Because you need lots of flooring at once, buying at the wholesale level at a discount is a great way to save cash.

BULK UP ON BEST SELLERS

If you have a particular type of flooring, such as a light oak narrow plank hardwood, that is a best seller, you can bulk up on those quantities and always have them in stock. Running out of stock is never a good thing, especially when it takes time to place an order and make the customer wait. To ensure you don’t end up with excess inventory, be sure to review sales records and trends before placing bulk orders, advises The Houston Chronicle.

LEFTOVERS

You may not be able to sell all of your bulk purchases, or you may have odd amounts or measurements left over. Have no fear: you can put these leftovers to good use, either selling them at a deep discount to customers or keeping them until a customer needs them to replace portions of a damaged floor, for example. Then, you don’t have to go through the time consuming and pain staking process of finding an exact match and having to buy too much of it. Why should you when you only need a small portion?

NO SALES TAX

In general, particularly with online hardwood flooring wholesalers, you are exempt from paying sales tax for bulk orders. When you’re shelling out money for hundreds or thousands of dollars in hardwood flooring, not having to pay that tax can be a real advantage. Just pay attention to those shipping and handling fees. With products that collectively weigh hundreds or even thousands of pounds, it won’t be cheap to get those products to your place of business unless you pick them up yourself. However, this isn’t always possible due to your location. If you receive damaged or incorrect products, you’ll have to ship them back which will also cost you some cash.
